Microsoft at a special event in Redmond has revealed some interesting details on Windows 10, the company’s upcoming operating system. The big news of the time is that Microsoft will be offering Windows 10 for free, the only catch is that you should be using Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1.
Pricing of Windows 10
This free upgrade is available only for the first year of Windows 10, and then after, the operating system will be a paid one. Microsoft is yet to announce the pricing of Windows 10 after the one year time frame.
Microsoft has clearly revealed its intentions that they want to offer Windows 10 as a service. As a service, it will be easy for the company to frequently release updates as and when required, without waiting for the next major release. Microsoft says that once a user upgrades to Windows 10, the company is aimed to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no additional cost.
This move from Microsoft is aimed to attract users towards using a genuine version of Windows 7 and Windows 8 so that they can freely upgrade to Windows 10. Perhaps with this move, the company wants to wipe the slate clean after the mistakes the company made in Windows 8. Also one thing is for sure, those users who were holding back to directly purchase Windows 10 when it will be released can purchase an older version (Windows 7 or 8.1) for now at low cost, and then once Windows 10 is released, they can upgrade for free (provided they do so within one year).

Hi
I am really looking forward to the release of Windows 10 this summer. I have been testing the technical preview of Windows 10 and I like what I see. It looks like Microsoft has been listening to their users this time.

A great way to get Windows 10 for free. I was looking for a legal way like this. Thanks Saqib for sharing.
